Time limit: 90 days
60 credits

$250 Enroll

Full program description

Principles I and II cover all the topics required by the Texas Real Estate License Act to be included in a principles-qualifying course, with both national and state-specific detail.  The course is enhanced by:

  • “hot issues” such as fair housing, discrimination, ethics, the Dodd-Frank Act, and Loan Estimate and Closing Disclosure forms;
  • examples to illustrate key concepts and provide real-life explanations for further clarification of real estate principles;
  • math concepts at relevant points in the units where they would normally occur in a transaction to help illuminate the real-life application of the mathematics of real estate. A basic real estate math primer is included in Unit 13;
  • margin notes in the text to help direct attention to important vocabulary terms, concepts, study tips, and related news;
  • “Getting a Real Estate License” appendix, which includes the license application process, tips for selecting a broker, and passing the state exam—plus a 100-question practice state exam.

Attendance Requirements, Course Content, and Testing

Each course has a required number of hours that must be completed before credit for the course will be given.  The number of required hours is indicated by the number of credits assigned to each course in the online course catalog where the student registers.  You must complete all course material in a unit and all assignments before progressing to the next unit.  Students may only be given credit for up to 12 hours of course time per day. As a result, you will not be given credit for a 30-hour course in less than three days (72 hours) from the time the course is started and not from the registration date of the course.  After 2 failed exam attempts, you must repeat the course in its entirety. The fee for retaking a course is $50.  Course retakes must be registered for within 30 days of the 2nd failed attempt.  Mandatory CE courses (Legal Update I and II, Broker Responsibility) require a proctored exam but do not have to meet a minimum score.  Elective CE courses do not include a final exam.

Final exams are closed book and are proctored by Pioneer’s online proctor service.  There is no fee for taking the proctored exams.  Exams can be scheduled by submitting a completed Proctor and Student Affidavit form to the instructor.  There is no fee if an exam has to be rescheduled.  All final exams must be completed before the course expiration date.

Additional Policies and Best Practices

Prior to enrolling in courses or applying for a real estate license, you may request a criminal history evaluation, as set out in Texas Occupations Code §53.025 and TREC Rule 541.1. If you have any criminal offenses, unpaid judgments, had disciplinary action taken against a professional or occupational license, or have performed an unlicensed activity, you should consider submitting a completed Fitness Determination Form before applying for a license. The form can be found at www.trec.texas.gov.

Terms and Conditions described above are subject to change without notice. Please review periodically.
