All active and inactive sales agents, who are under the Sales Apprentice Education requirement, must complete a minimum of 90 hours in qualifying real estate education and 4 hours each in Legal Update I and Legal Update II prior to the first two-year license term. If you have been made a supervisor by your broker, you will also need to take the 6-hour Broker Responsibility course.

Courses included in this package are:

  • Real Estate Marketing (30 hours)
  • Real Estate Investment (30 hours)
  • Real Estate Brokerage (30 hours)

Real Estate Marketing mixes entry-level concepts with advanced marketing theories, this course offers an interactive immersion into closing techniques, sales plans, digital marketing, and much more. A reorganized content outline and new units on technology, online marketing, and social media strategies make this the most comprehensive guide for applying classic marketing and sales techniques to a real estate career.  The course satisfies a 30 hour SAE requirement to meet TREC’s license renewal.

Real Estate Investment is an introductory course designed to help you, the real estate professional, better understand real estate investment.  In this study, we will be looking at the resources that are available as you walk through various types of transactions with investor clients.  Some of our topics will go into great detail while others will just scratch the surface.  After completing the course, you should be well-equipped to guide clients through the purchase of real estate investments.  Since many investors are repeat clients, it is an advantage to know the many paths of real estate investment and how to successfully complete these transactions.  The course satisfies a 30 hour SAE requirement to meet TREC’s license renewal.

Real Estate Brokerage covers all of the topics required by the Texas Real Estate Commission to meet the 30-hour prerequisite Broker Course for taking the Broker exam. The content is organized in an easy to follow format, supported by scenario exercises to reinforce understanding of the subject matter presented in the course. Scenario exercises include completing business planning templates for use in real world financial, marketing, and business planning models.  The course satisfies a 30 hour SAE requirement to meet TREC’s license renewal.

Attendance Requirements, Course Content, and Testing

Each course has a required number of hours that must be completed before credit for the course will be given.  The number of required hours is indicated by the number of credits assigned to each course in the online course catalog where the student registers.  You must complete all course material in a unit and all assignments before progressing to the next unit.  Students may only be given credit for up to 12 hours of course time per day. As a result, you will not be given credit for a 30-hour course in less than three days (72 hours) from the time the course is started and not from the registration date of the course.  After 2 failed exam attempts, you must repeat the course in its entirety. The fee for retaking a course is $50.  Course retakes must be registered for within 30 days of the 2nd failed attempt.  Mandatory CE courses (Legal Update I and II, Broker Responsibility) require a proctored exam but do not have to meet a minimum score.  Elective CE courses do not include a final exam.

Final exams are closed book and are proctored by Pioneer’s online proctor service.  There is no fee for taking the proctored exams.  Exams can be scheduled by submitting a completed Proctor and Student Affidavit form to the instructor.  There is no fee if an exam has to be rescheduled.  All final exams must be completed before the course expiration date.

Additional Policies and Best Practices

Prior to enrolling in courses or applying for a real estate license, you may request a criminal history evaluation, as set out in Texas Occupations Code §53.025 and TREC Rule 541.1. If you have any criminal offenses, unpaid judgments, had disciplinary action taken against a professional or occupational license, or have performed an unlicensed activity, you should consider submitting a completed Fitness Determination Form before applying for a license.
